Skills and Sefarim
Knowledge on YidCraft is permanent. There are no levels, no XP, and no grinding. You either know a halacha or you do not.

The skills

You start with the first two, so nothing is gated behind a hunt on day one.
When you try a craft you have not learned, the crafting table stays empty and the bar above your hotbar names the sefer you need.
Sefarim
Section titled “Sefarim”Every skill is taught by a physical sefer, a real book you can read. Right-click it to study. The pages open, and you learn the halachos inside.
A sefer teaches only once
Section titled “A sefer teaches only once”After someone studies it, the sefer becomes a keepsake. The pages still open, its cover says who read it, and it will never teach again.
That is worth knowing for Shulchan Aruch - Hilchos Mikvaos in particular. Its later pages are a step-by-step guide to the construction wand, so keep the sefer rather than selling it and you have the instructions on hand.
So a sefer you find is genuinely yours. Nobody can borrow it, learn from it, and hand it back.
If you already know the skill, opening the sefer only reads it. Nothing is used up, so you can still give it or sell it to someone who needs it.
You can still keep it, shelve it, sell it, or trade it as a collectible.
Where the rare sefarim are
Section titled “Where the rare sefarim are”They are not sold in any shop. You find them exploring:

They are rare on purpose, roughly one chest in forty at best, and Hilchos Tefillin far rarer. A sefer is a find, not a farm.
Two more places to find one:
- Bosses. The first time you beat the False Scholar he always gives you a sefer you have not learned yet. After that he sometimes does, and the other bosses now and then. See Boss Hunting.
- The Chitas Crate from the Chitas Pass sometimes holds one of the common sefarim.
Copying a sefer
Section titled “Copying a sefer”Someone who learned Hilchos Stam can write a copy of a sefer they learned: the sefer, a book and Ink of Truth from the False Scholar. You get two fresh copies, and each one can teach someone.
The Jewish Library
Section titled “The Jewish Library”Buy a Jewish Library from /kosher shop for 300 Kosher Points.
- Place the library like any block.
- Right-click an empty slot to shelve a sefer.
- Right-click an occupied slot to take it back.
It holds six sefarim, and the books show on the shelf.
It only accepts Jewish books. Ordinary and enchanted books belong on a normal bookshelf, and the library will say so.
Other blocks go on it as usual: you can stand a chest, or another library, on top.
Break the library and everything on it drops.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”I studied a sefer and now it says “Studied by me”.
Section titled “I studied a sefer and now it says “Studied by me”.”That is right. It taught you, and it will not teach anyone else. Keep it, shelve it, or sell it as a collectible. You keep the knowledge either way.
Someone gave me a sefer and it did nothing.
Section titled “Someone gave me a sefer and it did nothing.”Somebody already studied that copy. You need an unread one.
I bought a Mikveh Wand and it does nothing.
Section titled “I bought a Mikveh Wand and it does nothing.”You need Hilchos Mikvaos. Buying the tool and knowing the halachos are separate things, so find and study the sefer. Once you have, the sefer’s later pages walk you through working the wand, and /mikveh wand hands you one for free.
I cannot repair a mezuzah with the Sofer’s Quill.
