Kosher System
Run /kosher keep to join the Kosher Challenge. From then on, kosher food earns Kosher Points, properly prepared meat pays the most, and forbidden food costs you points, health, and a chance.
Quick start
Section titled “Quick start”- Run
/kosher keep. - Craft a Shechita Knife with an iron sword, wheat, and bone stacked vertically.
- Go to the mikveh at spawn. Stand in the water and click while holding the knife to toivel it.
- Kill a cow with the knife, cook the beef, and eat it for points.
You do not need to find anything first. Hilchos Shechita and Sefer Brachos are given to you on your first login, so the knife and the mezuzah bracha work right away. See Skills and Sefarim for the rest.
The Kosher Challenge
Section titled “The Kosher Challenge”The system only applies after you run /kosher keep. Once you have joined:
- Kosher food earns Kosher Points.
- Food prepared the wrong way earns nothing, but costs nothing.
- Inherently forbidden food costs points, health, and one chance.
You start with 3 chances. Losing all of them resets your Kosher Points and starts a cooldown before you can join again. Check /kosher status whenever you need the current count.
Penalties
Section titled “Penalties”| What you did | Kosher Points | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Ate something non-kosher | -10 | 2 hearts |
| Ate dairy while still fleishig | -5 | 1 heart |
The damage ignores armour. Diamond gear is not a defence against what you ate.
You never lose more points than you actually have, so your total cannot go below zero. Eating dairy early costs points and health, but it does not use up a chance.
Always forbidden
Section titled “Always forbidden”Pig, rabbit, horse, rotten flesh, spider eyes, and anything from the water without fins and scales. That covers pufferfish and tropical fish. No preparation makes these kosher.
Fine as they are
Section titled “Fine as they are”Bread, fruit, vegetables, eggs, dairy, cod, and salmon need no special preparation. Fish are not slaughtered, so cooked cod and salmon count as kosher straight out of the water.
Meat takes work
Section titled “Meat takes work”Beef, mutton, and chicken only earn points when the animal was shechted. Meat from a kosher animal killed with an ordinary sword costs no chances, but it scores nothing.
Shechita and the Shechita Knife
Section titled “Shechita and the Shechita Knife”You need Hilchos Shechita, which you already have, and a Shechita Knife. Craft it in a 3x3 crafting grid: iron sword, wheat, and bone vertically in the middle column.
Hold the knife in your main hand and use it to kill a cow, mooshroom, sheep, goat, or chicken. Pigs and rabbits never work, and the knife will tell you why. Leather, wool, feathers, bones, and Looting drops still work normally.
One clean cut
Section titled “One clean cut”Shechita is a single uninterrupted stroke, so the knife kills any animal in one hit. No hacking an animal down over five swings.
This works on animals only. Against a zombie or another player the knife does exactly what an iron sword does. It is a slaughter tool, not a better weapon.
The rules
Section titled “The rules”- Kill with the knife in your main hand
- The animal must be a kosher species
- The knife should be toiveled, or the meat is marked and earns nothing
A Shechita Knife cannot make a non-kosher species kosher. Killing a pig with it just kills a pig.
The dropped meat carries hidden kosher data. Renaming it does not change that data, and cooking it in a furnace keeps the kosher status. Raw meat is worth nothing, so cook it before eating unless your knife has Bishul.
Advanced Shechita
Section titled “Advanced Shechita”If you have found and studied the Advanced Shechita sefer, a proper shechita yields double the meat. It multiplies what the animal already dropped, so Looting still matters and a chicken is still worth less than a cow. See Skills and Sefarim for where that sefer is found.
Tevilah at the mikveh
Section titled “Tevilah at the mikveh”New metal utensils need tevilah, which means immersion in a mikveh. An undipped knife still produces meat with kosher data, but the meat earns no points.
How to toivel an item
Section titled “How to toivel an item”- Go to spawn and find the mikveh pool.
- Hold the item in your main hand.
- Stand inside the water.
- Left-click, right-click, or sneak. Any of the three works.
Particles, a sound, and a chat message confirm that it worked. The item’s lore will change to Tevilah: Toiveled.
You are always told what happened. If you stand beside the water, the plugin tells you to step in, and /mikveh here reports exactly what the plugin sees where you are standing. Players cannot place blocks inside the mikveh, so the pool cannot be drained by accident.
Items that need tevilah
Section titled “Items that need tevilah”| Tools and vessels |
|---|
| Shechita Knife |
| Furnace, Smoker, and Blast Furnace |
| Bowls, Buckets, and Glass Bottles |
| Shears and Cauldrons |
New items show their current status in the lore:
Tevilah: Needs tevilah <- take it to the mikvehTevilah: Toiveled <- ready to useBuilding your own mikveh
Section titled “Building your own mikveh”With Hilchos Mikvaos you can build a mikveh yourself and offer it to other players. The sefer that teaches the skill also teaches the procedure, so you can re-read it in game whenever you forget a step.
- Get a Mikveh Wand. Run
/mikveh wandif you have the skill, or buy one from/kosher shop, which sells them to anybody. - Dig and fill your pool.
- Left-click one corner, then right-click the far corner. Each click confirms the coordinates it recorded.
- Run
/mikveh create <name>.
Buying the wand and knowing how to use it are separate things. Without the skill the wand marks nothing, and it tells you why. That is deliberate: the wand is an ordinary tradeable item, so you can buy one as a gift for a player who has studied the halachos.
| Command | What it does |

Why tevilah is or is not working where you stand |
You can remove a mikveh you built. You cannot remove anyone else’s, including the public one at spawn.
Bishul
Section titled “Bishul”Bishul is a special enchantment for the Shechita Knife. Combine a Bishul book with the knife in an anvil. The anvil costs XP levels.
A knife with Bishul drops meat already cooked. The kosher marking carries over, so the result is the same as slaughtering the animal and then smelting the raw meat. You can eat the drop right away and earn the normal cooked-meat points.
It is a cooking enchantment, not a kashrus one. Non-kosher meat stays non-kosher, just cooked.
The item lore can show Bishul I together with Tevilah: Toiveled. Bishul only works on a Shechita Knife. It cannot be moved onto an ordinary sword, and a grindstone will not remove it. Ask staff how to get a Bishul book.
Fleishig and milchig
Section titled “Fleishig and milchig”Eating meat or poultry makes you fleishig. Dairy is off the table until the clock runs out, and eating it early costs 5 Kosher Points and a heart. Wait for the timer to finish or eat something pareve.
/kosher status shows the time left:
Status: Fleishig - dairy costs points for 14mStatus: Pareve - you may eat dairyMilk does not rescue you
Section titled “Milk does not rescue you”Milk normally clears every potion effect, the universal cure. Drink it while you are still fleishig and the bucket empties but the effects come straight back. You drank it, it did nothing, and you are told why.
Modeh Ani earns Kosher Points too. It has its own page: Brachot.
Kosher Points and rewards
Section titled “Kosher Points and rewards”Points come from eating properly prepared kosher food, from having a valid mezuzah, from touching a mezuzah, and from Modeh Ani.
These are the usual food values:
| Food | Points |
|---|---|
| Fruit, vegetables, bread, and cookies | 1-2 |
| Cooked cod or salmon | 4 |
| Matzah, Challah, or Gefilte Fish | 5-10 |
| Cooked kosher chicken | 12 |
| Cooked kosher mutton | 15 |
| Cooked kosher beef | 18 |
Properly shechted meat is the fastest earner. Apples will not get you very far.
Milestones
Section titled “Milestones”Each milestone gives a one-time Shekel payment. /kosher status shows your progress.
| Points | Title | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | Shomer Kashrus | 250 Shekels |
| 2,500 | Ben Torah | 1,000 Shekels |
| 7,500 | Mehadrin | 2,500 Shekels |
| 20,000 | Mashgiach | 7,500 Shekels |
| 50,000 | Gadol Hador | 20,000 Shekels |
Kosher Shop
Section titled “Kosher Shop”Run /kosher shop to spend Kosher Points.
The table below is in the same order as the menu, left to right.
| Item | Kosher Points |
|---|---|
| Shechita Knife | 200 |
| Mezuzah | 150 |
| 250 Shekels | 500 |
| Sofer’s Quill | 500 |
| Mikveh Wand | 400 |
| Jewish Library | 300 |
Items that need a skill are still sold to everyone. The menu tells you whether you have learned the halachos yet and lets you buy it either way, so you can gift, trade, or stockpile freely.
Tzedakah and custom foods
Section titled “Tzedakah and custom foods”The Tzedakah system lets you donate Shekels to a shared fund that helps new players. A Tzedakah Box accepts one Shekel each time you right-click it.
Matzah, Challah, and Gefilte Fish are all kosher custom foods. They count as prepared food and award Kosher Points. See Custom Foods for their recipes.
